More than only one runway presentation, this year, the Italian brand staged a five-day fashion fete, hosted in striking locations across the region.

The choice of Alberobello as the show’s venue was a stroke of genius. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famed for its cone-roofed stone buildings, known as trulli, which date back to the 14th century. As Venus Williams, Christian Bale, Erling Haaland, and other VIP guests marvelled at the town’s charm, they were enveloped in an ambiance that celebrated the authenticity and rich history of Italy.
Dolce & Gabbana’s commitment to portraying realness was evident from the start. Local craftspeople lined the streets, engaged in age-old traditions such as hand-making orecchiette pasta, weaving straw baskets, and carving children’s toys from cactus leaves. The designers incorporated these elements into their collection, drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship and heritage of the region.
“The most important word for this collection is authenticity,” Domenico declared in a pre-show press conference. And Stefano Gabbana added, “This is not a pantomime, we want to show what’s real.” Meanwhile, Domenico Dolce called the event “the most authentic show of our lives,” explaining that “it’s clothes for cooking but in an Alta Moda way.”
Through a striking display of colour, texture, and impeccable tailoring, Dolce & Gabbana presented their latest Alta Moda collection with an undeniable commitment to preserving and highlighting the artistry and craftsmanship of Made in Italy. The audience was captivated by each garment’s exquisite design and attention to detail.

The captivating tale of the Alta Moda Collection featured embroidery and lace that rise to the level of extraordinary artistry, delicately interweaving the essence of history, nature, and dexterity. The apparel presented in the collection evoked a timeless grandeur, with intricate cuts and impeccable handiwork that exudes elegance.
The collection drew inspiration from the unique cultural heritage of Alberobello, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation that carve the essence of Italian fashion into every piece. One of the hallmarks that shone from the collection was the exquisite mini dress, handcrafted with glossy raffia ribbons, mirroring the intricate craft of the local wicker baskets artisans. This attention to detail not only paid tribute to Puglia’s ancient artistry but also underscored the brand’s unwavering commitment to preserving and commemorating the local traditions.

Nets, scallops, and crochet designs blended seamlessly, embellished with small bouquets, buds, and leaves that celebrate the marvels of Puglia. Each garment stood as a unique work of art, fashioned entirely by hand and paying tribute to ancient customs that served as resilient foundations of the revered heritage – a priceless representation of an enduring identity.

The collection was also enthused with Mediterranean sensuality. Black is present throughout the collection, subtly balanced with the infinite transparency of tulle, chiffon, organza, and lace. The designers also took inspiration from the art of weaving, creating dazzling hats, capes and conical dresses that recall the region’s characteristic trulli. White, already hard to miss, is magnified by the addition of flowers – adding a surprisingly vibrant touch of colour.

The Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda collection offered a window into the beauty and rich culture of Puglia, with each garment capturing its finest essence and exuding the pinnacle of Italian artistry as every stitch and detail was meticulously crafted by hand.

The fashion show held at Alberobello’s Rione Monti & Via Monte Nero was a splendid tribute to the exquisite beauty of the town and the skilful craftsmanship of Dolce & Gabbana. Their collection presented a seamless fusion of traditional and modern elegance, leaving the viewers spellbound and motivated.
Dolce & Gabbana yet again demonstrated their leadership in Italian fashion. Through their Alta Moda collection, they not only honoured the rich legacy of Puglia but also displayed their steadfast commitment to creating peerless pieces of classic design and exceptional handiwork. This eagerly anticipated fashion event undoubtedly provided an awe-inspiring encounter where fashion and heritage intersected most extraordinarily.

Among the attendees, we find the Brazilian singer Anitta, who for the occasion wore a gold mini dress with lace embroidery that stole all eyes. The actress and presenter accessorised her look with gold-embroidered boots and gloves and a black tulle veil. To complete the outfit, Anitta used jewellery from the same Italian firm that consisted of a set with 19th century miniatures, diamonds and pearls, as well as a yellow and white gold ring with diamonds. These days, Dolce & Gabbana presents not only its High Fashion looks, but also brings together a select group of guests to learn about the High Jewelry and High Sartoria collection, an exclusive collection aimed at men.
The Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda 2023 show has an expected A-list front row, including Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Anitta, Future, Helen Mirren, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kerry Washington, Angela Bassett, and many more.
