The 6 Trends That Define the Spring-Summer 2022 Season

Spring 2022 is the time to try something new – do you dare?

The warm days are finally approaching. We can start thinking about what Spring-Summer 2022 fashion trends are proposing, both on the street and the runways!

If you’re as excited as I am for a new season of colourful and exciting trends, why not start planning your spring-summer closet?

So, here we invite you to get to know the best colours, prints, styles and fashion pieces that will dominate the season. Knowing the current trends will not only make you look super fashion savvy, but you’ll also know what to look for when you go shopping.

Here are the six spring-summer 2022 trends seen on the runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris as well as the celebrities you follow daily.

HOT PINK

It’s the colour hyper modernization of the season: Hot neon pink. It will only work on anyone brave enough to wear it. Plus, from the runway to the red carpet, the biggest celebrities are encouraged to wear the hue in career-defining looks like Zendaya, Hailey, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Paris Hilton, among others.

LOW RISE

Low rise jeans are making their way into our closets. Low-rise jeans with a cropped top to show some tummy is what the trend calls for to reach its full potential.

In one of the most talked-about runway shows of the Spring/Summer 2022 collections, Miu Miu made a big bet on low-rise silhouettes. While their mini-skirts have already gone viral, my focus is on the brand’s low rise khaki pants, finished with the perfect amount of slouch.

PLEATS

We all want to get dressed up and get back to work. For office wear, the businesswoman look is updated with tailored pleated skirts. We’ve seen it from fashion designers like Dior, Brandon Maxwell and Altuzarra.

STATEMENT TROUSER SUITS

This trend will dominate 2022, coming in the form of oversized 80’s workwear, padded shoulders (Stella McCartney, Michael Kors) and wider pants and flashy colour palettes (Christian Siriano). Other celebrities are also proponents of wearing this trend, such as Lily Collins, Zendaya, Megan Fox and Blake Lively.

CUT-OUTS

Cutouts were huge in AW21 and this season, they’re back and bolder than ever. Cutouts started appearing on the runways in the spring/summer of 2021, but this year they’re back. From adding a fun touch to longer, sleeker dresses (Proenza Schouler, Giambattista Valli, David Koma and Christian Siriano), to upping the fierceness of minis and one-pieces (Christian Siriano, Stella McCartney and Saint Laurent), cutouts come in all sizes and shapes.

Whichever way you choose to go, it’s a stylish look that anyone can pull off.

BRAS AS TOPS

Exposed bras are the hit of next spring. Remember when nude dresses looked subdued? For the trendsetter who dares to bare it all, your cup runneth over with options for spring: whether shiny (at Givenchy), crochet with floral appliqués (at Dior) or sheer (at Loewe), bras have never been more out there.
