The 2000s are back: Dolce & Gabbana presented its new Ready-To-Wear 2022 collection during the Milan Fashion Week.
Dolce Gabbana came back to the runway. This time, the signature unveiled its latest Spring 22 Ready-To-Wear collection runway titled ‘DG Light’. A glamorous and glittering 2000s sex appeal, with all the signature Dolce & Gabbana flair you could ask for. “This collection is a symbol of restart and optimism,” said Domenico Dolce, highlighting that Dolce & Gabbana’s approach to nostalgia for the 2000s is a matter of “always remember, never repeat.” In this collection, there are low-waist, the miniskirts make a wild comeback, and the pants enriched with laces.”
The collection took place on a long mirrored runway at the Metropole in Milan with a disco-like atmosphere. The designers, Stefano and Domenico Gabbana raided their Spring 2022 collection, updating archive pieces and reinventing old staples and elements for the elusive Gen- Z. Those references came courtesy of exposed G-strings and bralettes, micro bolero, Saharan jackets, flirty embellished miniskirts, lingerie-style lace blouses, and camo cargo pants. This was mixed with embellished denim sets, flowers, butterfly-like shoulders, animalier prints, lace, zebra-print shirts with outrageous architectural sleeves, and little sequin mini dresses.
The bra and miniskirts captured the attention, some with asymmetrical cuts, and others with a low cut that exposed the lace trimmings of the models’ lingerie. Evening dresses had to plunge necklines to expose the bra as much as possible, while corsets and swimsuits moved back into the outerwear category.
The 60s decade was present too, mainly in the form of a mini shift dress with matching go-go
boots. The 80s popped up in a slashed-neck, tie-dye Jennifer Lopez tee and also in a couple of giants ruffled shirt shoulders.
