Broadway’s biggest stars hit the red carpet in show-stopping styles at the 76th Annual Tony Awards at in New York City.

The theatre industry’s biggest night is finally here—that’s right, it’s time for the 76th annual Tony Awards, celebrating the best musicals and plays on Broadway. Ariana DeBose, who helmed last year’s ceremony, once again took on hosting duties for the 2023 Tony Awards, which began on Sunday, June 11. For the first time ever, this year’s show was moved to United Palace in New York City’s Washington Heights neighbourhood, but that was not the only big change for the Tony Awards. The show did not use a teleprompter; instead, presenters used cue cards with the list of nominees.
During any award season, celebrities take the opportunity to showcase their most stunning and bold outfits and poses on the red carpet. At the Tony Awards, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars brought their A-game, with Lea Michelle, Jessica Chastain, and Michelle Williams donning elegant eveningwear that exuded glamour and sophistication. Lupita Nyong’o made a lasting impression with her fashion-forward silver breastplate, which was a unique and daring choice. The red carpet was a feast for the eyes, with an array of florals, colours, and luxurious diamonds on display. It was truly a night to remember!
The awards event also had big winners of the night, including Kimberly Akimbo (Best Musical), Leopoldstadt (Best Play), Parade (Best Musical Revival), Killing Eve’s Jodie Corner took home the Best Leading Actress in a Play trophy in a tight competition against Jessica Chastain, Audra McDonald, and Jessica Hecht.
In honour of the biggest – and most fashionable, of course – night, below, we’re rounding up the best-dressed celebrities on the 2023 Tony Awards red carpet:
RACHEL BROSNAHAN
Rachel Brosnahan wore a dress from the Dua Lipa x Versace collection at the 2023 Tony Awards. Her black polka-dot dress had butterfly accents and a purposefully tattered hemline that added visual appeal. She capped the look off with strappy heels.

JESSICA CHASTAIN
Jessica Chastain was a bright ray of sunshine as she walked down the red carpet in a bold yellow Gucci down with a matching cape. The A Doll’s House star’s stunning dress featured a sweetheart neckline and a bodice that cinched in at her waist. The skirt fell in straight, tiny ruffles, while her cape swept dramatically across the floor as she walked. Chastain kept her red hair off her face in a sleek ponytail and wore a large chain necklace with an oversized glittering pendant.

LEA MICHELE
Lea Michele wore a red and white floral dress on the 2023 Tony Awards red carpet. The skirt of the dress was deceivingly large, giving the Funny Girl star plenty of skirt to twirl on the carpet. She capped off her look with award show-worthy glam and her chin-length bob sleek and tidy.

JODIE COMER
Jodie Comer wore a sleek, structured Thom Browne gown on the 2023 Tony Awards red carpet. Her strapless dress had subtle sparkly detailing on the bodice before the skirt gently fanned down from her hips. She kept her accessories very minimal, opting for an understated glam look for the night.

JULIANNE HOUGH
Julianne Hough wore a floral Carolina Herrera gown for the 2023 Tony Awards red carpet. The black and pink design featured a voluminous skirt, perfect for twirling while posing for photos. And though the dress came up to a high neckline in the front, it dipped to a backless silhouette from behind. Hough accessorised with a small black bag and wore her hair in an effortless updo.

LUPITA NYONG’O
Lupita Nyong’o chose to push the style boundaries with her look, and it certainly paid off. The actress wore a silver breastplate underneath a chic black suit by Misha Japanwala, and added jewellery by De Beers.
