New York Fashion Week returns with more edge, minimalist touches and cosy plush for Fall/Winter 2023.
Another year, another fashion week. It may be cold (or warm, then cold again), but New York Fashion Week is back after a busy season in September. There are no vax cards, and, for better or worse, virtually no masks in sight, but there are tons of looks showcasing what to wear come fall 2023. Plenty of fashion is expected during this month for sure.
Top renowned fashion labels presented their collections, showcasing incredible designs for the season. The most memorable menswear and womenswear looks were showcased at the New York Fashion Week. Case in point? Tory Burch’s latest FW ’23 collection contributed to undone minimalist prep and “challenge perceptions of beauty and femininity,” the show notes stated. Rodarte brought an incredible collection for the season with whimsical pieces straight out of a fairy tale, while Dion Lee brought the club scene back to his runway show.
All the runway shows were amazing, with stunning clothes we are in love with. The season will definitely be a glamorous one, as creative designers put much effort to showcase their collections. New fashion trends emerged during this month. You should discover and wear them this year.
From Christian Siriano to Dion Lee, here are some of the highlights from the New York Fashion Week fall-winter 2023.
DION LEE
Dion Lee’s Fall-Winter 2023 collection was all about high-end party pieces. For the season, the brand showcased an incredible collection, embracing the club scene once again, with top-to-toe sequins, sheer pieces, and plenty of clingy dresses. Entitled “Second Skin”, the designer also referenced literal interpretations of snakeskin, shedding and scales on his designs, as seen in leather jackets, skirts, and trousers.
RODARTE
Fashion label Rodarte unveiled its latest Fall-Winter 2023 collection during New York Fashion Week. Dark romance and the gothic evening wear were the key inspirations for the brand, nodding to the hype surrounding Netflix’s latest hit, Wednesday. The brand showcased long black gowns with exaggerated sleeves, black veils, ball gowns, gothic make-up, caped dresses, and more.
CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
For this Fall-Winter 2023 season, Christian Siriano took Audrey Hepburn as his inspiring muse for his latest collection. The creative designer showcased an entire collection paying homage to the lady’s style and glamour that characterises the multifaceted actress and model. Throughout the collection, we could see Chic Little Black Dresses, statement hats, floral motifs, tulle gowns, and statement prints.
LAQUAN SMITH
The most awaited fashion show, the LaQuan Smith, took place this year during New York Fashion Week, showcasing a sexy, sultry and incredible collection. Sheer everything was the key inspiration for the label. We could see models walking on the runway and wearing sheer dresses, dramatic cut-outs, latex and catsuits. “This collection has a little bit more of an elevated sophistication,” Smith said at a preview at his Long Island City studio. “The LaQuan Smith woman is growing, and she’s incorporating these sexy elements she finds here in all aspects of her life,” he added.
TORY BURCH
Tory Burch’s latest Fall-Winter 2023 collection was all about embracing imperfections and breaking traditional stereotypes of feminine beauty. The creative designer mixed strong outerwear and tailoring with lingerie and feminine knits. “I’m fascinated about how women today have been liberated from a preconceived concept of beauty,” the designer said during a preview. During the runway show, we could see models wearing oversized suiting with padding, dresses with lapels, slouchy sweaters, oversized trousers, and more.
