This Monday, May 1, saw the Metropolitan Museum of New York’s gala, an extravagant philanthropic soiree held since the late 1940s, where more than $15 million is expected to be raised, benefiting the Costume Institute and celebrating the late designer, Karl Lagerfeld.

“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” was intended to pay tribute to the German couturier’s years in the industry at the helm of houses such as Chanel, Fendi, Chloé and his own label while influencing the future of fashion. Thus, dozens of celebrities, athletes and internationally recognized figures paraded on the “white” carpet looking the most extravagant and glamorous in their designer outfits definitely gave people something to talk about. For instance, actress Penelope Cruz, tennis player Roger Federer and Albanian-British singer Dua Lipa were three of the five hosts of the MET Gala. Also, emceeing the event was actress and screenwriter Michaela Coel, known for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and, as she does every year, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Excluding some tints of red, and some pastel pink, the red carpet of the MET 2023 gala’s stars were white, black and a mix of the same look of both palette. For the designer, these were timeless, elegant, and classic tones, which he always included in his style and collections. In addition, the black sunglasses, white shirts, gloves, or his characteristic white hair forged a style as recognizable as in some stars when it came to paying tribute to him. Discover the eight most glamorous stars of the event.
